Summary

"My sword knows no justice… but it knows revenge well."

When it comes to fighting tyranny with a blade, there is only one name that shines: Raiden — the cyborg who revealed a new face of justice in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance — A Sword in the Heart of Political Darkness

In 2013, PlatinumGames and Kojima Productions collaborated to create a title that fused high-speed action with philosophical storytelling.
The game serves as an indirect continuation of the Metal Gear Solid series but focuses on Raiden, the cyborg warrior and once-forgotten hero who now takes center stage.

A World After the Fall of the Patriots: Technology for Blood and Profit

The story takes place several years after MGS4, when the global control system known as the Patriots has collapsed, and the balance of power has crumbled.
In this power vacuum, private military corporations like Desperado Enforcement, equipped with cyborg armies, pursue economic interests and endless war.

Raiden, now working for the peacekeeping organization Maverick Security, finds himself embroiled in an unequal war against these corrupt companies and their ultra-advanced mercenaries.

The Rise of Jetstream Sam and Sundowner: Enemies Beyond Human

Along the way, Raiden faces cyborg enemies like Jetstream Sam, a ruthless samurai swordsman, and Sundowner, a specialist in violence and explosives.
The greatest threat, however, comes from Senator Armstrong — a deranged politician enhanced with nanomachines, turning him into a human tank.

His goal? To start a global war to eliminate "weakness" from the world.

Raiden’s Identity Crisis: From Jack the Ripper to Swordsman Hero

Within Raiden lies a shadow of his past: Jack the Ripper, his bloodied identity from childhood as a child soldier in Africa.
Facing merciless enemies, Raiden has no choice but to embrace Jack again — but this time for justice, not murder.

The Final Battle Against an Unstoppable Senator

In one of the most memorable boss fights in gaming history, Raiden confronts Armstrong, a senator who believes the world must descend into chaos for the strong to survive.
The battle is brutal, filled with political slogans and cries of fury, ending with Raiden’s declaration:
"With my sword, I choose who lives!"

The End of War, The Birth of a Legend

By the end, Raiden has made peace with his past and decides to no longer be merely a tool of war.
He emerges as an independent hero, no longer a shadow of Snake — a swordsman with justice, a steel will, and a destiny of his own.

Why Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Became Legendary

  • Incredible high-speed cinematic combat with Blade Mode.
  • Epic metal-electronic soundtrack including Rules of Nature and The Only Thing I Know For Real.
  • Dark philosophical themes about war, childhood, morality, and identity.
  • Raiden’s transformation from antihero to symbol of power and self-determination.
  • Unforgettable boss fight design.
