Summary

"In 2010, Kojima Productions released Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for the PSP, completing one of the missing pieces of the legendary Metal Gear puzzle — the moment when Naked Snake becomes Big Boss and begins to build a world of independent soldiers."

In the Misty Mountains of Costa Rica, a Legend Begins

The story takes place in 1974, following the events of MGS3 and Portable Ops, in the heart of Central America.
Naked Snake, now carrying the name Big Boss, has founded a mercenary group called Militaires Sans Frontières (MSF) — an army without nation, without flag, and free.

When a mysterious woman named Paz Ortega and her mentor Ramon Galvez seek Snake’s help to stop suspicious arms activity in Costa Rica, the story enters a whole new chapter…

A Weapon That Could Bring the World to Its Knees: Peace Walker

Deep in the tropical jungles and secret bases, Snake discovers an advanced AI system named Peace Walker, designed to launch nuclear war without human intervention — a terrifying concept of "peace through perpetual threat."

This system is built with simulated memories of The Boss… the same woman who trained Snake and sacrificed herself to keep the world in balance.

Betrayal Within the Mind: Did The Boss Truly Seek Peace?

Throughout his journey, Snake wrestles with a profound question:
Did The Boss truly desire peace?
Did she give her life for the sake of great powers, or for freedom?
And if her legacy is to endure, is building an independent army the right path, or a betrayal of her goal?

Along the way, Snake encounters characters such as Huey Emmerich (Otacon’s father), Strangelove (AI scientist), and ultimately faces the truth himself.

Final Battle with Peace Walker and an Inspirational Decision

At the climax, Peace Walker is on the brink of launching a nuclear missile.
Snake must confront not only a colossal weapon but also decide whether he can honor The Boss’s memory while shaping a new future.

He ultimately takes control, no longer a pawn of governments.
From this moment, Snake officially becomes Big Boss — the leader of a new ideal.

Birth of Outer Heaven: The Dawn of a Revolution

At the end of the game, Big Boss, with the help of his loyal right-hand man Kaz Miller, establishes the first Mother Base — the foundation of Outer Heaven, a place where soldiers live free, without masters, and beyond political control.

And the world… slowly drifts into the shadows of the Cold War and the revolution he has ignited.
